ARI 458 Pro camper van: Germany's smallest camper van comes from Saxony

Electric vans as campers? ARI Motors makes it possible and launches the ARI 458 Pro camper van, probably the smallest camper van in Europe. The vehicle is aimed at anyone who loves the campervan trend but has neither a bus-sized parking space nor a six-figure budget.

A motorhome that fits into any parking space

The electric vehicle specialist ARI Motors from Borna near Leipzig is known for the creative body variants of its ARI 458 Pro electric van. From food trucks and refrigerated vehicles to winter service vehicles, the company already offers over 30 different versions. The ARI 458 Pro camper van is now the most unusual variant.

With its compact length of 3.82 meters and width of 1.49 meters, the vehicle fits through almost any old town alley and on any parking space, no matter how small. Where classic motorhomes capitulate at the entrance, the ARI 458 Pro camper van is just getting started. However, campers have to make a small compromise: The design-related interior headroom in the box body is around 1.85 meters - not suitable for everyone.

Electric camping: 15 kW, 20 hp and a range of up to 230 km

Under the hood is the tried-and-tested 15 kW electric motor of the ARI 458 Pro with just under 20 hp. The top speed is around 70 km/h. For trips to the Alps, you should plan a little more travel time - the journey is quite literally the destination here.

In terms of range, buyers can choose between two LiFePO4 battery variants. The standard battery with 15 kWh enables ranges of 120 to 180 kilometers, while the larger version with 23.5 kWh has a range of 180 to 230 kilometers. The operating costs are around four euros per 100 kilometers - significantly cheaper than any diesel camper.

Self-build concept: ARI Motors supplies the infrastructure

The special feature of the ARI 458 Pro motorhome is the consistent self-build concept. ARI Motors supplies the vehicle with the complete technical infrastructure for self-sufficient camping: 230 V interior sockets, a solar system on the roof, an additional battery for the on-board power supply and a water supply with fresh water and waste water tank.

ARI Motors deliberately leaves the bed design, table and kitchenette to its customers. On the 2.8 square meters of loading space, self-builders can let off steam according to their own ideas - whether folding bed, pull-out kitchen or minimalist interior.

For those who still want to set off straight away, ARI Motors, as an experienced vehicle builder, also offers a reduced version that meets the basic needs of camping straight from the factory.

Price and availability

The ARI 458 Pro motorhome will be available to order from May 1, 2026. The starting price is 25,530 euros plus VAT. Tradespeople also benefit from the possibility of a 75 percent special depreciation allowance and vehicle tax exemption until 2035.
