The parcel and mail delivery industry has increasingly relied on electromobility in recent years. Vehicles like those from ARI Motors GmbH offer many advantages, especially in urban areas, as they do their work without diesel exhaust fumes and noise. The company “Debex Potsdam” (DEBEX stands for “Deutscher Briefexpress”) has therefore opted for the electric transporter ARI 458 Box to reliably support letter delivery in the city of Potsdam and at the same time to fulfill the promise of CO2-neutral delivery.
At the end of the 90s, the company saw the dissolution of the postal monopoly by “Deutsche Post” as an opportunity and directly applied for licenses for the commercial transport of letters. At that time, VW Polos and Golfs in the classic yellow Post design acted as delivery vehicles. Meanwhile, the vehicles of the “Debex Potsdam” are red and the company has been successfully transporting all kinds of mail for over 20 years. The two founders Karsten Knaup and Hans-Joachim Hoffman are managing directors to this day and are far from thinking of quitting.
Even in the smallest version, the loading space of the ARI 458 Box is 1.31 meters long x 1.16 meters wide x 0.95 meters wide, making it ideal for delivering letters. For larger transport needs, the case is available up to a size of 1.60 x 1.30 x 1.16 meters as the ARI 458 Box XL. At “Debex Potsdam” it forms the interface between the muscle-powered delivery by bicycles and the large vans with internal combustion engines.
In beautiful Potsdam, the bright red ARI is primarily used to transport letters from the city administration, with the ARI electric transporter traveling around 25 kilometers per day, according to Hans-Joachim Hoffman. At night it goes to the headquarters in the Babelsberg district to recharge so that it can do its work quietly and cleanly the next day.
